When are we ever going to use this stuff?
Maybe never. Maybe every day. You will use math throughout your life. It's true though, you may never have to factor a quadratic or graph a polynomial again. The goal of high school is not just to give you specific skills though. It is to prepare you for life after high school. Be that a job, a vocational and/or technical school, a domestic life and working in the home, community college or a four-year university or any other path you may choose to take or find yourself on. Much of what I hope you get from high school is the love of learning, a glimmer or more of an idea of what paths you want to pursue, and the ability and skills to navigate the world you face after graduation. You will have unlimited possibilities before you and I want you to be able to take advantage of anything that works for and interests you. But those opportunities will be limited the more you limit yourself now. So open up your options and learn as much as you can now. Be prepared to take on the competitive job and college markets and have the skills that employers are looking for. Such as being a team-player, being a good problem-solver and being able to express yourself verbally and in writing effectively.
This is your chance to strive and reach towards your dreams.
